Prayer & Action for Peace from Hiroshima

by Jim McGinnis, inspired by his new book

As we continue to pray and act for peace around the globe this week, in solidarity especially with the people of Hiroshima & Nagasaki and all the victims of atomic and conventional warfare, please consider forwarding this weekly prayer & action request to your networks.

Stories and Icons for our Prayers.  The story of Sadako Sasaki, the victim of the atomic bombing of Hiroshima who made the paper peace cranes famous, and the stories of the hibakusha (survivors) remind us of the human casualties of war and spur us on to work for peace and for a world without nuclear weapons.  See the stories and photos from the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum.

Prayer for Peace & a World Free of Nuclear Weapons.  God of peace, inspire us and our political leaders, and people and leaders around the world, to echo the cries from Hiroshima, "never again! Never again war! Peace for our world." To the people of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, and in the words of the Mayor of Hiroshima, "we express our heartfelt condolences to all of the victims of those bombings and we rededicate ourselves to the cause of peace."   (see http://www.inicom.com/hibakusha/peace.html)
